By tram & bus (HAVAG)
- Ankerstraße stop (lines 2, 5, 9, 10, 16): the shortest way – about 350 m.
- Or Moritzburgring / Neues Theater (lines 3, 7, 8) – from the main station, line 7 is your best bet, a journey of around 13 minutes.
- From the stop, walk towards the Saale and follow the Robert-Franz-Ring along the water – no. 9b is right on the riverside promenade.
By car
- Sat nav: Robert-Franz-Ring 9b. The Ring is a 30 km/h zone and a one-way street in parts.
- Easiest: the car park diagonally opposite the music school – step out and you're practically there.
- Alternatives: a small car park on the Ring (about 50 m) or Friedemann-Bach-Platz by the Moritzburg (73 spaces, max. 3 hrs, about 250 m).
- For longer stays: the Händelhaus-Karree underground car park, Dachritzstraße 10 (378 spaces, about a 5-minute walk).
Please note: much of the area around the old town is residents' parking only – the spots listed above are the safe choice.
By bicycle
- Follow the Saale cycle path – it runs along the riverbank, past Peißnitz Island and the Moritzburg.
- Since its refurbishment, the Robert-Franz-Ring has cycle lanes in both directions.
- Park your bike right by the entrance of no. 9b.
A lovely bonus: the approach along the riverside promenade is one of the prettiest routes in Halle.
On foot
- From the market square, walk towards Hallmarkt.
- Past the Moritzkirche and downhill to the bank of the Saale.
- Keep right along the water – after a few metres you'll be standing in front of no. 9b.
From the main station it's about a 25–30 minute walk – or you can hop on line 7 (see “Tram & bus”).

An address that seems made for a music school
Our street is named after the Halle composer Robert Franz (1815–1892): organist at the Ulrichskirche, university director of music and one of the most important German art-song composers of his time – over 350 art songs came from his pen, Robert Schumann praised him publicly, and Franz Liszt was among his friends. Since the year of his death in 1892, the former “path along the Mühlgraben” has been called the Robert-Franz-Ring.
That it should be right here, overlooking the Saale, where children and adults now learn their instrument – an address could hardly be more fitting.
